Introduction: The Live-in Caregiver Program is a special temporary foreign worker program designed by the Canadian government to help Canadians hire foreign caregivers to live and work in their homes to care for children, the elderly or people with disabilities. The objective of this long-established program is to allow qualified caregivers from around the world to come to Canada and work as a live-in caregiver as there are not enough Canadians to fill the available positions. The program helps address Canada's skill and labor shortages and support socio-economic development in Canada From a foreign worker's perspective, the Live-in Caregiver Program is a legitimate and convenient way for foreign care giving professionals to come and work in Canada. Moreover, the program enables these live-in caregivers to apply in Canada to become a permanent resident after completing a cumulative two-year period of full-time employment as a live-in caregiver under the program within three years following their arrival in Canada. Every participant of the program and their family will be granted permanent resident status unless they are otherwise found ineligible. There are three main requirements that a foreign caregiver applicant has to meet to qualify under the Live-in Caregiver Program. 1. Successful completion secondary education equivalent to Canadian high school education. This requirement helps to ensure that participants who choose to apply for permanent residence can succeed in the general labour market as the majority of new jobs in Canada require at least a high school education. 2. Successful completion of six months of full-time Caregiver training in a classroom setting for the caregiver course. This requirement helps to ensure that the caregiver applicant possess the right knowledge and work skills to do the job. 3. Ability to speak, read and understand either English or French. This requirement helps to ensure that the caregiver can function independently and communicate. For more information do contact us . Live-In Care Giver Outline 1.
